June 2019 TBR

Wow, I can’t believe it’s already June!  I’m hoping to be more present during the summer months while I still have lots of times on my hands (besides the two courses I’m taking towards my Masters).  I’m hoping to keep up with the reading volume that I had last month (reading 21 books!).  I will be very happy if I manage to read 15 books this month, but 20 would be amazing!

During this month I’m involved in a couple of reading challenges.  I’ve joined Reading Rivalry again, this month’s theme is Rainbow Rowell.  The criteria and books are:

  • Author Highlight (Stephen King, Sarah J Maas, Rainbow Rowell, Taylor Jenkins Reid)

  • Deceptive Cover
    • We Set the Dark on Fire by Tehlor Kay Mejia
  • Book involving Vikings
    • Warrior of the Wild by Tricia Levenseller

    • With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo
  • Finish a Series that was started before June 1st
    • The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzie Lee
  • RR Recommendation

I’m also involved in TBR and Beyond’s event called “Read With Pride Word Search Challenge” which involves matching a book with an LGBT rep word and/or Prompt word.  You can find the event and rules here.

I haven’t narrowed down the prompt word, but I have managed to note the LGBT rep within the books I plan on reading:

Lesbian – We Set the Dark on Fire by Tehlor Kay Mejia
Asexual – The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzie Lee
Bisexual – Furyborn by Claire Legrand
Gay – My Brother’s Husband by Gengoroh Tagame
Transgender – Graceful Grayson Ami Polonsky
Nonbinary – None of the Above by I W Gregorio

I also plan on reading the TBR and Beyond Group reads:

Other books I’m hoping to get to that don’t fit any of the criteria or group reads:

The Farm by Joanne Ramos
Girls with Sharp Sticks by Suzanne Young
The Love & Lies of Rukhsana Ali by Sabina Khan
Tithe by Holly Black
The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli
Princess Jellyfish Vol 1 by Akiko Higashimura
Strong Female Protagonist Book 1 by Brennan Lee Mulligan
Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde
The Lost Coast by Amy Rose Capetta
Middlegame by Seanan McGuire
Love & Other Carnivorous Plants by Florence Gonsalves

So yeah, but a very, very ambitious TBR.  Wish me luck! What are you reading? Are you joining any of the events above?
